Tips for better background swaps

Small changes to the photo and the description make the new scene more convincing.

  • Start with a clearly separated subject

    Photos where the subject stands apart from the background, in focus and well lit, give the cleanest edges around hair, hands and product outlines.

  • Describe lighting as well as place

    Add the time of day and light direction, such as 'warm evening light from the left', so the new scene suits how your subject is already lit.

  • Match the camera angle

    If you shot the subject from above, ask for a tabletop or floor view. A scene with a mismatched angle often makes the swap look pasted on.

  • Need transparency? Use the Background Remover
